Gift Aid and Give as you earn

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities such as Pesticide Action Network UK to claim back tax on donations. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, we get an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation go further.

This means that £10 can be turned into £12.80 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn't cost you a thing. So if you want your donation to go further, Gift Aid it. All you need to do is tick the box on the supporters form.

To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must at least equal the amount we will claim in the tax year. To find out more about Gift Aid, visit the Inland Revenue website.

Give as you earn

If your employer is registered to accept payroll giving you can request a deduction from your gross salary, making this the most cost effective way of giving.

Under this scheme, you specify a regular donation to a charity of your choice; the donation is deducted from your salary BEFORE TAX. This means that to donate £10 per month only £7.80 would be deducted from your salary.  Additionally, until April 2004, the government will add a further 10 per cent to the value of your donation through GAYE.

Confirm with your employer that they do operate a Give As You Earn Scheme, if they do, then complete the donation form and return to PAN UK.  If your employer does not currently operate a Give As You Earn Scheme why not try to encourage them to implement one,  various charities could benefit.
