Food residues monitoring

The UK government monitors the quantity of pesticides present in the most commonly contaminated food – particularly fruit and vegetables – and publishes the results.  Full details of these can be found in the Pesticide Residue Committee quarterly reports

The government evaluates each residue they detect for its health impact, but almost always finds that there is “no cause for concern” even when safety levels are exceeded.  We believe this is complacent and patronising – people are justified in being concerned about their health when they see safety levels being breached.
