Independent monitor
In 2009, project management units in Mali and Tanzania started working with NGOs from the respective networks to carry out independent monitoring and evaluation of project activities. PAN UK was contracted as an independent monitor in inventory and disposal projects in Ethiopia and Mozambique. The monitor is invited to observer national projects during 2 week missions, including observing trainings, working with the project team to address problems that came up and assisting in the development of communications materials, as well as providing an independent assessment of the whole process. In Mozambique, a local NGO has also been contracted as a ‘National Observer’ who supports the monitor and provides local knowledge and experience in support of the international monitor.
