Aberdeen

Aberdeen City Council provides a chemical safe for disposal of pesticide waste at the civic amenity site at  

  1. Greenbank Crescent, East Tullos, Aberdeen

Residents should present clearly labeled and contained waste to the person in charge upon arrival at the site.


Aberdeenshire

Household waste disposal sites in Aberdeenshire are not licensed to accept hazardous chemical waste, such as pesticides.


Angus

Chemical safes are available at the following civic amenity sites in Angus.

Argyll & Bute

Argyll & Bute Council does not provide facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste at any of their civic amenity sites. However, the council does offer a free collection service to local residents which takes place quarterly. Residents with waste pesticides should contact their local area office (contact information below) to obtain an application form for a collection. They may also contact the Hazardous Household Waste Enquiry Line on 01546 604306.

East Ayrshire Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste.

North Ayrshire

North Ayrshire Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. They recommend that residents contact the local office of the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency on 01292 294000, or, SEPA, 35 Miller Road KA7 2AX.

South Ayrshire

South Ayrshire Council currently provides a chemical safe at 

  1. Walker Road Refuse and Cleansing Depot, Ayr, KA8 9L8

Clackmannanshire

Clackmannanshire Council has a chemical safe at 

  1. Forthbank Civic Amenity and Recycling Centre, Blowhouse Road, Alloa, FK10 1DA


Dumfries and Galloway Council

Dumfries and Galloway Council currently has no specialised service for disposal of pesticides or other hazardous chemicals. It is also looking into the issue and expects to provide chemical safes in the future. Contact the council’s information service with specific queries 01387 260000.


Dundee City Council

Dundee City Council provides advice on disposal of hazardous waste on 01382 432777. It may also be able to arrange for disposal of pesticides from domestic premises.


East Dunbartonshire Council

Residents of East Dunbartonshire with waste pesticides should contact the council on 0141 574 5788.


East Lothian Council

East Lothian Council provides a chemical safe at

  1. Civic Amenity Site, Macmerry Industrial Estate, Macmerry, Tranent, EH33 1RD

East Renfrewshire Council

East Renfrewshire Council provides chemical safes at both of their civic amenity sites 

  1. Greenhags,Eastwood Transfer Station, Ayr Road, Newton Mearns, G77 6RY
  2. Barhead Civic Amenity, Calibar Road, Barhead, G78 1AA

Edinburgh

Edinburgh City Council currently provide a free collection service for hazardous waste from domestic premises including pesticide waste. Contact them on 0131 529 3030. 


Falkirk

Falkirk Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. However, they will soon upgrade their civic amenity site facilities and may install a chemical safe.


Fife

Fife Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. Residents can call the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency on 01592 776910 for advice.


Glasgow

Glasgow City Council provides chemical safes at all four of their public waste disposal sites. Their locations are

  3. Polmadie Transfer Station, 425 Polmadie Road, Glasgow, G42 0PJ

Highland

Highland Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. Householders should call 01349 868439 for advice.


Inverclyde

Inverclyde Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. However, they have recently been granted a license to operate such a facility and expect to be able to provide a chemical safe in the near future. Contact 01475 714750 for further information.


Midlothian

Midlothian Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste.


Moray

Chemical Waste is not collected or disposed of by Moray Council. They advise local residents to call the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency on 01343 547663.


North Lanarkshire

North Lanarkshire Council does not have facilities at their civic amenity sites for disposal of chemical waste. However, they can provide advice and arrange collections where necessary. There may be a charge for collections depending on the nature of the items to be collected. Contact Harry Morgan on 01698 302038, or morganh@northlan.gov.uk


Orkney

Orkney residents should call the information line on 01856 873535 and ask for the Technical Services Department. The council may be able to arrange a collection for pesticide waste.


Perth & Kinross

Perth & Kinross Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. However, they can provide residents with information about private companies who can provide this service. Call David Goodenough on 01738 477124.


Renfrewshire

Renfrewshire Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. Residents can call SEPA on 01355 574200.


Scottish Borders

The Scottish Borders Council has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste.


Shetland Islands

Shetlands Islands Council has a chemical safe for safe disposal of pesticide waste at 

  1. Landfill site, Rova Head, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 08M

Contact the site operator upon arrival. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 8am - 4.30pm; Sat 8am - noon Note that in February 2006 this site will be moving to a new location.


South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire Council advise residents to call the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency for advice on 0800 807060.


Stirling

Stirling Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. Call 0845 277 7000 for advice.


West Dunbartonshire

West Dunbartonshire Council currently has no facilities for safe disposal of pesticide waste. Call the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) for advice on 0141 945 6350.


West Lothian

West Lothian Council advises residents to call the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) for advice on 0131 449 7296.


Western Isles  

Island of Lewis and Island of Harris  

Residents of the Islands of Lewis and Harris can bring pesticides from domestic premises to the civic amenity site at

  1. Bennadrove Landfill, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS2 0DL

Call the site on 01851 706744 beforehand to check whether they are able to accept your waste.  

Isle of South Uist, Isle of North Uist, Isle of Barra and Isle of Benbecula

Residents of the Isle of South Uist, the Isle of North Uist, the Isle of Barra and the Isle of Benbecula can bring pesticides from domestic premises to the civic amenity site at  

  1. Rueval Landfill, Market Stance, Benbecula, HS7 5LA
