Is your MP bee friendly? PDF Print E-mail

Picture of ParliamentaltBees and other pollinator species are facing a range of problems in the UK, not least the threats posed by the use of neonicotinoid pesticides.

The Pesticide Action Network UK and many others are calling on the UK government and the Defra Minister to take decisive action and immediately suspend the use of neonicotinoids whilst all the issues surrounding their use are looked at in detail.

Given the inaction by Defra and the government as a whole there is a need for politicians within Westminster to put pressure on Defra to act; after all they should be representing your views!

With that in mind we have pulled together a list of UK MPs who we believe from their actions to date are bee friendly. Of course there may be others and we hope that there are. We want to add to the list below and we are asking for your help in identifying bee friendly MPs.

If the name of your MP does not appear on the list we would urge you to contact them and ask if they are supportive of a suspension on neonicotinoids and more generally what their opinion is on the health of bees and what needs to be done to help ensure their survival in the UK. You can find out who your MP is by checking here: http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/

People power can drive change and we hope that by contacting your MPs you will show them the depth of feeling about this vital issue and prompt them to take action. Please let us know what responses you receive so that we can add supportive, bee friendly MPs, to the list.

Thank you for your support, PAN UK
