|List of global restrictions on glyphosate|
Prompted by concerns over its impact on human health and the environment, local and national authorities all over the world are restricting the use of the herbicide glyphosate. In this document, we list all of the voluntary and legal restrictions on glyphosate use that we have been able to find.
Glyphosate is the world's most widely used herbicide, but earlier this year, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) – part of the World Health Organization – concluded that it is probably carcinogenic to humans. This judgement, coming on top of other studies linking the chemical to multiple problems from birth defects to biodiversity loss, has proved the final straw for many governments, local authorities and retailers who are increasingly restricting its use.
Around the world hundreds of towns, dozens of regions, and even whole countries, have banned or restricted its use and the list is growing. Find out more in this document.
