|PAN UK applauds the Co-op support for European Commission proposed neonicotinoid suspension|
Pesticides Action Network UK (PAN UK) applauds the statement made by The Co-operative on Saturday 2 February that it welcomes the recent proposal by the European Commission (EC) to suspend the use of neonicotinoid insecticides on sunflower, rapeseed, maize and cotton.
Keith Tyrell, Director of PAN UK said:
“As the largest farmer in the UK, The Co-op continues to show important leadership on the issue of neonicotinoids and bees - a lead that we call upon others to now follow.”
“If the UK’s largest farmer can grow crops without resorting to neonics, then surely others can too. We don’t need these risky pesticides.”
