Stowaways accidentally fumigated?
Three stowaways were found dead on the cargo ship Ostfriesland, which had been transporting cocoa from Abidjan (Ivory Coast) to New York. Immigration officials in New York said they were still awaiting medical reports on the three men, which had been delayed because “they have had some trouble getting the containers off the ship and getting at the bodies.” They added, however, that the three men apparently died when the sealed compartment in which they were hidden was fumigated with a pesticide.
