November 1996 the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO)
is hosting a World Food Summit to promote food security. Solutions proposed
include high input agriculture—in spite of diverse work showing the success
of adopting ecologically sustainable approaches.

governments and decision makers. Based on the experience and research of the
PAN and other NGOs, Growing Food Security brings together a
series of papers to provide key background material. Among the areas covered
are: Corporate strategies; Economic, political and institutional issues;
Regional and national experiences; the need for a sustainable alternative;
Planning the future—collective visions.
