The Pesticide Reregistration Progress
Report is produced on a quarterly basis by the US EPA. It includes
Reregistration Eligibility Documents (REDs) which comprise active ingredients,
or groups of chemicals. So far, 47 REDs have been produced which represent 72
chemicals, 2,675 products and 197 tolerances (of food residues). Recent reviews
include glyphosate and daminozide (trade name Alar).
The US and Canada are working on a pilot project for maximum
residue limit harmonisation. In addition a joint Great Lakes Initiative has been
developed to address the problems of increased pollution.
