Building NGO capacity for preventing obsolete pesticides
From 2005 - 2008, PAN UK received support from the World Bank's Development Grant Facility to engage NGOs and build their capacity to participate in the Africa Stockpiles Programme.
We built and supported networks in the seven P1 countries (Ethiopia, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Tunisia), and conducted a programme of training, research and projects. We also published a number of resources for NGOs and others.
PAN UK also represents NGOs on the ASP Implementation Committee. Through regular telephone conferences with other ASP partners (FAO, World Bank, CLI, WWF) we coordinate NGO inputs, for example participation at annual Stakeholder Forums, and development of an NGO guidance note for PMUs
