Why support a pesticide-free London?

Chemical weed killers are still used by almost all London councils on pavements, tree pits, road verges, and in housing estates, schools, parks and playgrounds. Councils are undermining the fantastic spaces urban gardeners and growers maintain by spraying weed killers nearby, and are misleading the public into thinking these chemicals are safe to use. In fact, glyphosate, one of the most commonly used pesticides by gardeners and land managers has been labelled a ‘probable carcinogen’ and found to be toxic for bees and other insects. Forty UK councils, including two in London, have already gone pesticide-free. Let’s push for all London councils to stop using pesticides once and for all.
